Learning disabilities in the workforce

Starting a new job search and I recently asked a friend for advice on whether to put “yes, I have a disability” on the disability declaration on job application because while having dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyspraxia are protected by the ADA, I am still worried about discrimination from a hiring manager and normally put no. The response I got was shockingly un-shocking. I was told by the friend, “I don’t view you as having a disability and if you decide to play the game then you will have to be content with being a diversity hire or hired to meet a quota.” Having had to fight with teachers about accommodations and friends not understanding why I had them, I’m tired of people’s attitudes. I’m not even mad, just disappointed to still be dealing with this in 2023.

I like how the only reason Harry is able to fight the imperious curse so easily is because it hits him and he’s like “Ah I feel calm and relaxed and happy…this is wrong.”

harry: serotonin? in this economy?

Vegans of tumblr, listen up. Harvesting agave in the quantities required so you dont have to eat honey is killing mexican long-nosed bats. They feed off the nectar and pollinate the plants. They need the agave. You want to help the environment? Go back to honey. Your liver and thyroid will thank you, as well. Agave is 90% fructose, which can cause a host of issues. Bye.

Beekeeper here! Just wanted to say that the fact that vegans won’t eat honey is very silly. Harvesting honey does not hurt bees. The invention of modern moveable-frame hives means we can remove a selected frame, extract the honey and return it without killing a single bee.

If we destroyed the colony to harvest honey there would be no bees for next year, and beekeepers are incredibly careful to keep their bees healthy and thriving. We take *excess* honey that they don’t need, and it stops the hive from becoming honey-bound, meaning that there’s so much honey the Queen has nowhere to lay eggs. And if the winter is harsher than expected and the remaining honey store runs low, we feed the bees plenty to make sure they survive. We also make sure that pests are controlled, bees are treated for disease, and the hive is weatherproof and in good repair, all things that wild bees struggle with.

Keeping bees in properly managed hives where they don’t starve or die from preventable disease is much better for them than being left to fend for themselves, and they’re far too important to be left alone.

All the fruits and vegetables that vegans *do* eat couldn’t exist without bees, and the hives which pollinate those crops also produce excess honey which the beekeepers can sell to help keep themselves and their hives going.

TLDR: BUY THE HONEY, HELP THE BEES.

So many theories about Pepper or Valkyrie or Nebula saving Tony have come out of this trailer. How easily people forget. Remember, as Matt Murdock said:

‘ You could drop Tony Stark naked in the middle of the desert and he’d fly out in a jet made of sand and cactus needles. It’s not his stuff that gives him power. It’s his brain.’  (Daredevil 2015 #2)

Tony is in the equivalent of the cave in this trailer. He has no armor, he has no tech, he has nothing but the scraps of a ship and his brain. He is wearing the same tank, with the arc on show, that we see for the very first time in the cave in the original Iron Man. There is a reason for that. This is Tony at his most stripped down, at his most vulnerable and desperate. This is Tony, again looking to survive. Tony has no armor. Tony needs to build armor. He needs a suit that will get him home. A suit that will kill a Titan. A Godkiller armor. He needs tools and a forge.

Tony Stark isn’t going to sit and wait. He will fight to his very last breath. Because that’s what heroes do.

Tony needs to build himself a new armor.

Tony, is going to Nidavellir.

Just watched a woman slather a whole jar of diced garlic on three huge salmon steaks and put on in each microwave at work

It’s going to smell hellacious later

It was so awful I had to work in another building for the rest if the day

Word is she left the fish and went back to her desk to pack up and quit

The stench was so awful they had to open all the doors which required bringing security from two other sites

Most of my department went home for the day

Holy SHIT

i am so sorry you had to deal with the olfactory fallout, but my GOD.

‘Yes Tom Riddle was indeed in a New York City orphanage for a while at the same time as Stuart Little. I’ve known this since 1945.’ - JK Rowling, December 2018.
